When kids start to really talk and make sense it's exciting, amazing, and awe-inspiring at times. Where did she learn the word "climb?" We didn't teach her that. Did Barney climb a hill? Did the Wiggles climb in their big red car? Finley was wrestling with us the other day and she said, "I climb Mommy." We're so proud! While all of this is exciting, it can also be a tad embarassing. We were in church yesterday and kept the kids in the nursery for most of the service, but when it was time for communion we brought them out so we could go to the altar as a family. Once we returned to our seats and the pastor was wrapping up the blessings Finley raised her arms and said loudly enough for those around us to hear, "All gone?" That's her way of saying all done and let's get the show on the road, but I suppose she was right too in this case. The bread and wine was indeed all gone. Jesus had left the building. She continued, "All gone, all gone, all gone!" I guess that's why they have the nursery.
It's hard for Finley to pronounce some words. Barney comes out "Bah." She also says "bah" for balls and sheep. You have to apply context. The most gross mispronunciations happen when it comes to the words "sit" and "fork." If the FCC were listening to one of her conversations about wanting to sit down at the table and pick up a fork, it would result in a very large fine. But I suppose the proper consonants will find their way into these words soon. Until then, we may keep her out of the sanctuary.
